Mindfulness Changes Your Brain Part 5 - Prefrontal Cortex
Are you a half glass full or half glass empty kind of person? If your glass is half full you’ve probably got more activity in your left hand prefrontal cortex ( the part of your brain that sits just behind your forehead) compared to your right. Whereas if your glass is half empty, you’ve probably got more activity on the right compared to the left. Either way it doesn’t matter because research shows you can change it with mindfulness. Neuroscientists taught mindfulness to employees of a company in Silicon Valley and found that activity in their prefrontal cortex shifted towards the more optimistic left side after just 8 weeks of training. So if you’re looking to clear the clouds of your mind and bask in sunnier days, keep up the training.
