Getting ready: the 10 most important minutes of Take10, Take15 and Take20
Before you dive into Take10, there are a few things you should know that will help you get the most out of the experience.
Even if you’re raring to go, spend 10 minutes watching these short animations – it’s the most important part of the whole programme, covering what you can expect, the problems every first-time meditator experiences (and how to cope with them), and most importantly, how best to approach the next 10 days.
Before you begin:
A few practical bits and bobs
Take10 is specially designed to help you learn, practice, and experience the benefits of the Headspace techniques, by meditating 10 minutes a day for 10 days. That’s less than 1% of your day.
Be comfortable
That means wearing something loose, that’s comfortable to sit in, and that you won’t get too hot or too cold in. We’re not big believers in the whole ‘no pain, no gain’ thing.
Same time, same place
Try to sit each day at the same point in your day. You don’t have to get up at 6:30am on a Saturday morning just because that’s what works for you during the week, but if you usually start your session between having a shower and breakfast, try to stick to that slot each day (whenever that happens to be on the weekend is fine).

Stick it out
Commit to doing the full 10 days — it’s that long because it’s enough to notice positive changes, but at the same time is not too overwhelming. It’s only 10 minutes a day for 10 days — it’s not even two hours out of your life.

Important:
Log your feedback
One of the things that makes Headspace, and Take10, different, is that you can actually track your progress and observe how you’re developing. To do this, we’ll ask you for some simple feedback after each day’s session, gauging how you’re feeling using our simple online tools.
This feedback is important:
For you:
Acknowledging how you’re feeling at the end of each session is an important part of developing clarity and demonstrates how quickly thoughts, feelings and moods can change.
For us:
The feedback you give us on your Take10 experience helps us to make sure you’re getting the most relevant, useful content every time you come back to the site. It also helps us to refine what we’re doing at this end.
For everyone:
Your feedback is collated with the feedback from an unseen, unheard community of people embarking on the same journey as you. Whatever you’re experiencing, you’re always in good company.
